The Documentary Segment that Led to Criminal Proceedings against Jackson

Docs & Non-Fiction (Profiles)
[ 10:01 - from YouTube ]
This video is part of our Remembering Michael Jackson, King Of Pop Spotlight

The most controversial segment from the 2003 Martin Bashir documentary of Michael Jackson's life, during which the journalist interviews the cancer-stricken boy who would later file charges against the singer. Bashir's tone takes a turn after Jackson remarks that "the most loving thing you can do is share your bed with someone."  After the documentary aired, the singer filed complaints against Bashir and Granada TV in a British High Court, claiming breach of contract and breach of confidence.  But the proceedings were put on hold when the charges of molestation surfaced.  The criminal charges were eventually dropped, and Jackson settled the case with the boy's family.
